Assessment of cell proliferation and differentiation dynamics shaping the development of the hindbrain<\/span><\/i><\/i><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Abstract<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n

The growth of an organ requires the maintenance of an exquisite balance between cell proliferation and differentiation. We will study how said balance is achieved during the embryonic development of the zebrafish hindbrain, via the study of cell lineages and molecular mechanisms that regulate them. We have started the characterization of how different proneural lineages are regulated. We will then assess, using time-lapse microscopy, how said lineages shape the growth of the hindbrain in 4D. Finally, using a genomics approach, we intend to decipher the molecular signatures underlying neuronal differentiation.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Abstract<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n

The application of techniques in biomolecular archaeology has enabled the direct identification of a variety of \u2018invisible\u2019 organic products and foodstuffs absorbed within archaeological pottery. My project aims to use ceramic lipid and proteomic analysis to investigate the types of foodstuffs being cooked and consumed by ancient populations of the Indus Civilisation (3000-1300 B.C). I will extract lipids and proteins from pottery from different Indus Civilisation sites in Sindh, Pakistan to characterise the nature and variation of foodways across the region, and to understand the evolution of culinary practices during the development of urbanism and environmental change in the region.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
