From an architectural point of view, the\u00a0Montanistika<\/strong>\u00a0building is a remarkable building and is inscribed in the register of cultural heritage. The interior of the building is decorated with\u00a0numerous stone elements<\/strong>\u00a0that emphasize its monumentality and at the same time provide important information about the\u00a0extraction and use of natural stone in the past<\/strong>. From a geological point of view, the corridors and the hall of the Montanistika represent a special geological museum, which combines\u00a0natural and cultural heritage<\/strong>. The interior of the building is decorated with some of the most beautiful Slovenian architectural stones, which is joined by some interesting examples from the area of the former Yugoslavia and two newly installed foreign, geologically interesting stones. The rocks used are also interesting because they give representatives of all three basic rocks groups. Sedimentary rocks are represented by very diverse limestones, metamorphic by marble, and igneous rocks by four intrusive examples.<\/p>\n

Geologists from the Department of Geology (Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering) and the Geological Survey of Slovenia and graphic designers (mentors and students) from the Department of Information and Graphic Technology (Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering) placed the building in a virtual world. The virtual walk through the building will be possible in Slovene and English languages.<\/p>\n

In the week before the European Researchers’ Night event, which will take place on Friday, 27 November 2020, we will present the petrified secrets of the Montanistika building through the project “Stories of Montanistika in the world of virtual reality<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n
