On January 27, 2015 Conservation Center of Modern and Contemporary Art in Mitnica at Sne\u017eni\u0161ka street 5 in Ljubljana opened the door for the exhibition Kibori-Shimono, which was on display during day and night. The name of the exhibition is a combination of two words – shibori and kimono. Shibori is an ancient Japanese technique of mechanical reservation of textiles according to the pattern and subsequent dyeing, usually with indigo blue dye. Kimono is a traditional Japanese clothing.\u00a0Students of the second year programme Fashion and Textile Design were searching for the meaning and origin of words shibori and kimono and had been given a task at the subject Textile design to present their researches in newly interpreted products. All phases of creative work had been done manually, which gives the product a touch of hand craftsmanship. The fabric created in this manner is always unpredictable to some extent, while the pattern is elusive at the end of dyeing and despite of the carefully guided procedure it is always a surprise.<\/p>\n
