Exhibition by students and their mentors at the fair Heimtextil in Frankfurt, Germany<\/strong><\/p>\n

Master\u2019s students of textile design<\/a>, Petra \u0160ink<\/strong>, David Bacali<\/strong>, Deni Pregelj<\/strong>, Tudor Matache<\/strong>, Sara Lovri\u0107-Anu\u0161i\u0107<\/strong>, Majda Kramberger<\/strong>, Admir Kapi\u0107<\/strong>, Nejc \u0160ubic<\/strong>, Tja\u0161a \u010cerne<\/strong>, Evgenija Zafirovska<\/strong> and Julija Kaja Hrovat<\/strong> under the mentorship of professors Marija Jenko<\/strong>, Jana Mr\u0161nik<\/strong> and Marjeta \u010cuk<\/strong> from The Department of Textile, Graphic Art and Design<\/a> at The Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering<\/a>, University of Ljubljana<\/strong> have represented their design work at Heimtextil<\/a>,<\/em> the biggest fair for interior textiles in the world that was held in Frankfurt from 11th <\/sup>January to 15th<\/sup> January 2016<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A monumental spatial tapestry with the title \u201cAre we human or are we dancers?\u201d<\/strong> was created. It was on display within a section Campus<\/a> where the design faculties are represented. The main theme was once more \u201cHotel Europe\u201d<\/strong>, which functions as \u00a0a metaphor. It demonstrates Europe as a space of cultural interchange and different ways of life, a place of closeness and human connectedness. The theme poses a question on the purpose and the sense of architecture – what defines the living ambient, the intimacy and the feeling of being desired and welcome? We arrive to the answer – the human being<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The idea was depicted in two art pieces: a textile pattern<\/strong> \u2013 an image of giant human hands that are playing with a string; and a wallpaper<\/strong> with a series of faces – frieze<\/strong> – cut out of the textile surface. The pattern, woven in a jacquard technique<\/strong> formed a spatial curtain \u2013 propylaeum<\/strong> – an architectural symbol for a passage to the other side into a new existence, where the faces, a sublime tactile experience were found on the opposite wall.
