The NTF sKRIM<\/a><\/span> project was created in cooperation between RK Krim Mercator, the Ljubljana women’s handball club and the Chair of textile and fashion design<\/a><\/span>, OTGO<\/a><\/span>, NTF UL<\/a><\/span>. It was carried out in the form of a three-week workshop as a module within Fashion design course in all years of undergraduate studies, and 79 students were involved.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Seemingly incompatible areas such as sports and fashion<\/strong> were connected by clothing-the sports apparel<\/strong> of handball players in red, blue and black coloured jersey material. The player’s representational outfits are the club’s official uniforms and a medium<\/strong>\u00a0for fans to unificate with the club. During the workshop the uniforms represented an inexhaustible source of inspiration and a means of non-verbal communication between female handball players and fashion students. Movement, competition, joy, sadness, strength, energy, family bonding, the exceptionality of handball players, the majesty of sports… are the values that students included in their desigs\u00a0and used various techniques to produce authorial fashion designs that reflect their researches.\u00a0They approached to the designing process with fresh creative solutions and textile techniques such as weaving<\/strong>, recycling<\/strong>, pleating<\/strong>, applique adding<\/strong>, crochet<\/strong>, upcycling<\/strong>, laser cutting of uniforms<\/strong>, tracksuits<\/strong>, handballs<\/strong> and goalkeepe’s nets<\/strong>.\u00a0They created a collection of shirts, jackets and sweaters, fashion accessories and denim bottoms, a modern and fresh fashion collection of women’s clothing, which is unified in colour and style. The project was presented at the end of December at the evet Modnovanje 23<\/strong>, which is annually organized by the students of Fashion and Textile Design. As part of the project, students gained new knowledge on how to design clothes for a client<\/strong> and participate in teamwork.<\/p>\n
