The TEKS-SENSE<\/strong> textile installation is the result of a research project by first-year students. In it, they took a comprehensive look at textile material \u2013 donated jeans waste \u2013 and explored its potential for design. The installation combines sensory perception, sustainable thinking and artistic experimentation with textile waste.
\nIn terms of content, the project delves into the world of the basic senses \u2013 sight, touch, smell, hearing, taste and touch. Special attention is also paid to air. It is essential for our survival as it is our basic sensory experience \u2013 breathing.
\nBy studying and perceiving the senses, the students experimented with the processing of the textile surface. They mainly used manual techniques such as cutting, sewing, embroidering, weaving, interlacing and folding.
\nThe textile installation TEKS-SENSE<\/strong> gives an invisible element \u2013 air \u2013 a tangible form. It achieves this through a variety of textures, each of which tells a story. These stories are often linked to a personal memory, a momentary feeling or a state of the conscious and unconscious. Sometimes it is just a brief glimpse into life, but sometimes it is a deep narrative, like an inhalation and exhalation.
\nThe installation is also a meditation on sustainability. By recycling waste materials, it draws attention to the importance of conscious consumption and the impact of the textile industry on the environment. The TEKS-SENSE<\/strong> textile installation is therefore not just a work of art. It is also a call for reflection and a new perspective on clothing, fabrics and our relationship with them.<\/p>\n

Exhibition at BIEN 2025<\/h4>\n

The project TEKS-SENSE (2025)<\/strong> is exhibited as part of the BIEN 2025<\/strong><\/a> textile art biennial and can be seen in Idrija at Mercury Smelting Point<\/strong> until August 14, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Visitors are invited to experience the installation with all their senses. In this unique setting, air becomes tangible through textile \u2013 breathing past and future.<\/p>\n
