The textile installation The Tablecloth of Morpheus<\/em> focuses on the ancient element of the tablecloth and interprets it as a ritual object of encounter and interpersonal dialogue. The embroidery on the tablecloth illustrates the life cycle of the poppy heads, which gradually dry up and, with the help of the wind, set off on a new journey to an unknown destination. The poppy as a symbol of the dream is also one of the symbols of the author’s homeland. The air in the surroundings becomes a blue textile that invites the visitor to breathe and find inspiration. The mystical space combines elements of a ritual place and domestic comfort – people can breathe, relax and surrender to the flow of their thoughts and feelings.<\/p>\n

Exhibition at BIEN 2025<\/h4>\n

The Tablecloth of Morpheus (2025)<\/strong> is exhibited as part of the BIEN 2025<\/a><\/strong>, textile art biennial and can be seen in Gorizia at Palazzo Lantieri <\/strong> until August 14, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

ETA award<\/h4>\n

Borjan received the national ETA award<\/strong> for his work The Tablecloth of Morpheus <\/em>, which earned him a one-week residency in Prato, Italy, at the Lottozero textile laboratories.
\nThe ETA award<\/strong><\/a> was announced in 2024 during the opening of an exhibition by Eta Sadar Breznik, one of Slovenia\u2019s most prominent textile artists. Named in her honor, the award also stands for the Exceptional Textile Award. It is presented by the BIEN Textile Art Biennial. The main goal of the award is to promote handcrafted textile techniques among young and upcoming textile artists.<\/p>\n

About the author<\/h4>\n

In his works, Borjan Litovski explores the relationship between textiles and space and between textiles and the body. His works always conceal richly interwoven stories drawn from mythology, history, human civilisations and the individual. Borjan is active in the field of contemporary textile art, theatre costume design and scenography. He has participated in several international individual and group stage projects at the Cankarjev dom, the Ljubljana Festival, the Prague Quadrennial 2019, the Hortus Magicus Festival, the Baroque Festival in Olomouc in the Czech Republic, the National Theatre in Ostrava and the New Opera Days Ostrava festival, as well as with the Plze\u0148 Opera in the Czech Republic. He presented his work “Bedroom Cocoon” at the Biennale of Textile Art \u2013 BIEN in 2020. The same project was later also exhibited at the \u0160KUC Gallery in Ljubljana. In 2023, he presented himself at BIEN with the textile installation “Aurora”. He is the recipient of the University of Ljubljana’s Pre\u0161eren Award for scenography and costume design for the opera Agrippina (2022).<\/p>\n
