Teaching and research activities at the Chair of Textile and Clothing Engineering are performed in different fields of textiles and include conventional and new textile materials, advanced mechanical and chemical textile processes, planning of textile and clothing technologies, construction of textiles and clothes, textile care, textile testing and quality control and ecology in textiles. The pedagogical staff members of the Chair provide lectures for the basic and facultative courses of the BSc, MSc and PhD Bologna study programmes<\/a> in the fields of textile engineering, textile and fashion design and graphic communication that are carried out at the Department of Textiles, Graphic Arts and Design. Moreover, an important part of our mission is mentorship in undergraduate, master\u2019s and doctoral projects as well as mentoring young researchers and researchers from the industry.<\/p>\n Research and development activity at the Chair comprises basic, applied and targeted research work aimed at the creation of functional and specialty textile products along the entire chain of fibre-yarn-fabric-final product, the development of high-tech textile processes with the emphasis on environmental aspects, recycling of textile and non-textile materials, the transition from mass production to production of customized textile products and the preservation of Slovenian and world cultural heritage. Our research work proceeds within the framework of the Programme P20-213 Textiles and Ecology<\/a> as well as national and international projects<\/a>.<\/p>\n The research strategy of the Chair is based on the increase of the scientific excellence of the researchers and the transfer of knowledge into the educational process and to industry. Furthermore, important goals of the research are to expand the textile materials into various industrial sectors and new areas of application, to strengthen the inter-institutional and interdisciplinary nature of the research and the international cooperation, to care for the research environment, to ensure research ethics and social responsibility, to support patent applications, to care for the preservation of the Slovenian language as the language of science and to raise the importance of research for sustainable development.<\/p>\n We cooperate with various domestic and foreign research and education institutions, the textile industry and other corporations, economic interest groups and non-governmental institutions. They are active in different expert groups of the EU.<\/p>\n Colleagues of the Chair include members of the Publishing council and editorial board of the journal Tekstilec<\/a>.
