Enrolment conditions and criteria for selection in case of limited enrolment

Candidates may enrol into the second-level Master’s Geotechnology study programme in accordance with Articles 38a, 38b and 41 of the Higher Education Act and Article 115 of the Statutes of the UL, provided they have completed:

a) the first-level geotechnology and mining study programme;
b) a first-level study programme from other technical areas (geology, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry and similar), provided the candidate passes all his or her study obligations necessary for continuing his or her studies before enrolling; these must encompass 10 to 60 CP and candidates have the possibility of passing them during their first-level studies or by passing them before enrolling into the Master’s programme; candidates who have completed their first-level studies in geology or civil engineering need to pass Electrical Engineering I and II as well as Basics of Mechanical Engineering I and II; candidates who have completed first-level studies in Mechanical Engineering or Chemistry are required to pass Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology as well as Soil Mechanics I and II; for candidates from other technical professional areas, the NTF Studies Committee determines the necessary differential exams based on the exams passed at the first level of their undergraduate studies;
c) a higher education professional study programme according to the pre-Bologna regime in the field of geotechnology or mining;
d) a higher education professional study programme according to the pre-Bologna regime from other technical areas (geology, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry and similar), provided the candidate passes all his or her study obligations necessary for continuing his or her studies before enrolling; these must encompass 10 to 60 CP and candidates have the possibility of passing them during their first-level studies or by passing them before enrolling into the Master’s programme; candidates who have completed their first-level studies in geology or civil engineering need to pass Electrical Engineering I and II as well as Basics of Mechanical Engineering I and II; candidates who have completed first-level studies in Mechanical Engineering or Chemistry are required to pass Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology as well as Soil Mechanics I and II; for candidates from other technical professional areas, the NTF Studies Committee determines the necessary differential exams based on the exams passed at the first level of their undergraduate studies.

The Faculty offers 30 places at this department. In the event only a limited number of candidates can be accepted, the candidates will be selected based on their first-level grade averages – exam and practical work grade averages.
