On Thursday, 10 September 2026, at 7 p.m., you are invited to the opening of IMPERFECTIONS, an exhibition by students of the Chair of Textile and Fashion Design, Department of Textiles, Graphic Arts and Design, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, University of Ljubljana.
The Imperfections (10. 9. – 6. 10. 2026) exhibition combines student collections that explore the theme through the body, emotions, materials, and the creative process. It opens up various perspectives, often personal, on what deviates from the expected and the ideal. What happens when we stop viewing imperfection as a mistake, and start to see it as a space for exploration? The exhibited works depart from the expected order and functionality: silhouettes become deformed, materials crease, layer, tear and proliferate, surfaces become irregular and unpredictable.
For the young designers, it is precisely this departure from the ideal that becomes a means of expression. Through the design process they explore vulnerability, change, and unpredictability, and question whether imperfection is truly something that needs to be fixed or hidden. Perhaps it is here in the irregular and the unfinished that we might recognise new possibilities of design, and a different form of beauty.
