Enrolment Requirements

Candidates eligible for the interdisciplinary doctoral study programme Art include:

  • graduates of second-level study programmes;
  • graduates of former study programmes for obtaining a university education accepted before 11 June 11 2004;
  • graduates of former study programmes for obtaining a master’s degree, or specialisation after completing a study programme for obtaining a university education accepted before 11 June 2004; for the admission to the doctoral study programmes, a competent body of the member institution, upon the proposal of the field coordinator responsible for doctoral studies, recognises study obligations amounting to at least 60 ECTS credit points;
  • graduates of programmes educating for professions regulated by the directives of the European Union or other unified master’s degree study programmes evaluated with 300 ECTS credit points;
  • graduates of foreign universities and academies (including art colleges), in accordance with prescribed conditions applicable to students of the Republic of Slovenia; the equivalence of education obtained abroad is determined in the process of recognising foreign education for further education in accordance with the Statute of the University of Ljubljana;
  • graduates of study programmes for obtaining specialisation who previously completed a higher vocational programme; for these candidates, the programme committee of the doctoral study programme Art determines additional obligations amounting to 30–60 ECTS credit points before the enrolment in the third-level study programme.

Selection Criteria in Case of Enrolment Limitation

The selection of candidates in case of limited enrolment is based on the success in completed studies and achievements in the artistic and professional fields. Individual selection elements are evaluated as follows:

  • success in the second-level studies (average grade of at least 8 (pd)): 10%,
  • evaluation by the professional committee, achieved through assessment of artistic talent (90%):
    • proposal of the topic, outline of the doctoral study plan: 25%,
    • portfolio with previous artistic works: 25%,
    • interview with the candidate: 40%.

The professional committee for assessing artistic talent is appointed by the member institution coordinating the artistic field(s). Upon the proposal of the field coordinator, a competent body of the member institution coordinating the field, responsible for doctoral studies, decides on the suitability of the candidate.
