The “GWG Infographics” project was created as part of an international collaboration with the Ghent Workgroup (GWG) – a leading international association of experts in the fields of graphics technology, design, printing, publishing, and packaging. The main objective of the association is to develop, promote and implement best practises and standards in prepress and workflow processes. The GWG’s recommendations and specifications enable professionals around the world to reliably create, process, and exchange graphics files for a wide range of applications.
As part of the collaboration with the GWG, first-year Graphic and Media Technology and Graphic and Interactive Communications students on the Graphic Prepress course, led by Prof. Dr Raša Urbas, created a series of original and instructive infographics. The aim of the project was to present selected prepress topics in an appealing and understandable way, while giving students the opportunity to interpret and visually communicate their acquired knowledge.
As this was a student project, some infographics may contain factual or design inaccuracies. However, the goal of the project was not only to create a final product, but more importantly to foster a process of learning, research and reflection – where every mistake is seen as an opportunity for growth and improvement.
