The aim of the subject is to get to know the student with the basics of business process management, and learning about new trends in the production systems. The competencies od the subjct are: to understande the status and trends of production and service activities; to monitor, analyze, manage, design, plan and evaluate work processes; to understande and able to solve real business problems using scientific methods like eg. SWOT analysis,
value analysis, systematization and evaluation of the complexity of work, etc .; to use basic knowledge in managing workflow; to management the project team.

Content: PRODUCTION – Industry structure, conception and organization of production, characteristics and division of production. PLANNING – The process of planning, preparation of the process, the selection of technology, determining equipment, manufacturing interval, technological preparation of production, work time norm, operational preparation of production, planning of the production process, capacity planning, material management, purchasing department, production and launching of operational documentation. MANAGEMENT – Management of companies and department, company organization, production control, scheduling, data collection, monitoring and analysis of performance, optimization of stock, acquisition, study and analysis of time, control of the working process, project management, alternative methods of planning and management, leadership and decision-making styles and models of leadership. MAN IN THE PRODUCTION PROCESS – Workers function, humanization of work, structuring work, the complexity of the work, the method of assessment of work.

Lectures: Lectures by introducing team methods, discussions, case studies and examples of good practice; invited lectures.

Seminar work: connection between theory and practice.

Innovation management (GIC, 2. level)+

Objectives: Innovation is the driving force of enterprise development and innovation societies. Slovenia should become such society in the near future. The condition for the successful creation and operation of such society is knowledge and mastery of the innovation process, which bases are given in this course. In view of the above, the objectives and competences of this subject as follows: understanding the differences between innovation management and management of routine operations; understanding the importance of creativity and change of creativity into innovation; introduction of innovation management; the ability of introduction and management of innovation processes in a company; and the ability of measuring the efficiency and effectiveness of innovation processes.

Content: What is innovation management and what the innovation process; the elements that influence the success of innovation management; creativity in the invention – innovation process; new insights on creativity and the consequences of the lack or suppression of creativity in certain environments; innovative business process (introduction of inventiveness and innovation in policy and practice od Slovenian companies; management, information and core business process innovation); innovative business strategy (a strategy of knowledge transfer for innovative business process and finance, human resource strategy); operational implementation and monitoring of innovative business process; measurement the efficiency and effectiveness of innovation processes as a tool to manage business processes; innovation successful models of Japan, the US and the EU. Routes to know-how and intellectual property.

Lectures: Lectures by introducing creative thinking methods, case studies and examples of good practice; invited lectures by experts in the field of creative thinking, intellectual property protection and examples of good practice (industry). And of course – homeworks:=).

Projects: Implementing the process from idea to prototype and finished products and services; final outcomes implementation and presentation (exhibitions,  conferences, contests tc.)

Cooperation with external institutions: Museum of post and telecomunication, Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Elementary schools, Fculty of Education (UL), etc.
