English for specific purposes

English for Specific Purposes develops the language and communication competences required for effective participation in international academic and professional environments. Special emphasis is placed on public speaking, reasoned presentation of design decisions and effective communication of students’ own work. In addition, students acquire specialised terminology in the field of design (e.g. patterns, clothing styles, fashion, sustainability, recycling, textile materials, garment components and textile labelling), academic writing skills and business communication competences, including the preparation of CVs, cover letters and other professional documents. Through a practical approach, the course fosters students’ confidence in presenting ideas, projects and professional achievements.
