“WEARING A CIRCLE”

‘Wearing a circle’ is not just a fashion piece, but a play of contrasts and an exploration of transferring simple two-dimensional forms into more complex compositions in three-dimensional space.

The garment lives between the intimacy of skin contact and the striking distance from the body, and its flamboyant silhouette may just be an illusion that hides the individual amidst the deep blue waves of fabric. The duality of its nature subtly yet convincingly illustrates the contrast between the warm, velvety, inviting side of the matte fabric and the shiny, yet cold and reflective side of the fabric with a high sheen. The garment, inspired by Japanese modeling, consists of soft fabric and stiffer wires that allow it to explore bold shapes. Many contrasts express the complexity of the garment while inviting the individual to reflect on the duality and multilayered nature of the world in which they live.

‘Wearing a circle’ is not just a fashion piece; it is an expression of artistic and conceptual imagination.

The project was created as part of the assigment Japanese modeling druring the course 2A Fashion Design in the academic year 2023/2024 of the Bachelor’s degree programme Textile and Fashion Design.
