Fibreing the Landscape is a large-scale, community-supported tufted textile that tells the story of nature through visual language. It is a cleverly crafted collage of twenty-six interconnected visual narratives created in a direct, intimate dialogue with the natural environment. Each of them expresses its own interpretation of nature, and together they form a harmonious, comprehensive work of art.
The project was created in a collaborative and experiential process in which the breath of nature not only serves as inspiration, but is also materially present – the colour tones of the base fabric are obtained exclusively with natural dyes.
The 2nd year Textile and Fashion Design students patiently and creatively built up a textile landscape from the colour tones to the final large-scale tufting structure. Using the power of the individual artistic units, they created a transcendent artistic whole that connects people with nature – through fibre, colour and form.
