The opening of the exhibition of the Chair of textile and fashion design at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, entitled Manual technologies, took place on Tuesday, May 30th, 2017 at the Slovene Ethnographic Museum – SEM. The introductory speech at the opening of the exhibition was held by the dean of the Chair of Textile and Clothing Design Professor Dušan Kirbiš.
In the current academic year, students of textile and fashion design were faced with the task of reflecting on the methods and meanings of creating a synergy of manual techniques and modern technologies.
They considered various aspects of sustainable design and possible fashion guidelines. In the process of designing and producing such garments, textiles, textile objects and fashion accessories, they sought inspiration in different local practices, selected personal stories, and in the collections of the Slovene Ethnographic Museum.
