On monday, 1st of April 2019 at 6 p.m. Bachelor‘s and Master‘s students of Textile and Clothing Design, OTGO Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering UL showcased their work at spring edition of Ljubljana Fashion Week LJFW with all years students‘s combined collection, concepted on stlyling. The NTF Mini Collection was an important opening part of the Ljubljana Fashion Week, where the catwalk presentations of both, established and unrecognized designers from the region and beyond ran from 1st to 4th April at the Republic Square in Ljubljana. For the first time the selection of the finalists ant the winner of the prestigious FASHION SCOUT SEE competition took place in Slovenia. FASHION SCOUT is the world‘s leading platform for the promotion of unrecognized young designers and it was founded by Martyn Roberts and Biljana Poposka-Roberts, fashion scouts from the UK. Among the selected Slovenian designers at the Fashion Scout See competition, who finished their studies at Chair of Textile and Clothing Design were Ivan Rocco, Jona Bednjanec and Dejan Petrović, a promising young designer and the runner-up of this year‘s FASHION SCOUT SEE competition. His male collection titled Bloom ( Cvetenje ) is based on precision in modeling technique. This year, the jury war convinced by the experimental collection by Serbian designer Gala Borović, who is this year‘s winner of the Fashion Scout See prize and who will showcase her collection at the London Fashion Week.
At this year‘s 10th edition of the Ljubljana Fashion Week, the main WOW ( Winners Of the Week ) award received Petja Zorec, one of the first designers to undertook the development of men‘s fashion in Slovenia. As an Assistant at the Chair of Textile and Clothing Design she is the valuable member in the process of nurturing Slovenian fashion talents. The motif for the concept of her collection called Bloss19OM ( Cvet19OM ) is a flower, as a common visual denominator of emotion. The LJFW jury was also impressed by NTF, Textile and Clothing Design student Jona Bednjanec, who received the DIGI WOW ( Digi Winners Of the Week ) Award, which defines the collection with the greatest editorial and viral potential. Her collection titled Granny Takes A Trip ( Babica gre na potovanje ) is based on jaquard knitwear and unique pieces of handmade work.
