GEOMETRICA AFTER GEOMETRICA

Mitnica Gallery, Department of Textiles, Graphic Arts and Design

Installation Geometrica after Geometrica is based on the project Park Geometrica, that was first represented within the international festival Light Guerilla in May, 2015. The great Finnish master of lighting Kari Kola gathered pupils, students and their professors from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, the Faculty of Architecture, the Academy of Art and Design and the Secondary School of Design and Photography. Together they built a grandiose lighting display in the city park Zvezda in Ljubljana after a few months’ workshop. In December, half a year later, the magnificent red and blue feelings of Geometrica were once more represented on the meadow and in the pavilion Mitnica that is situated in front of the building of the Department of Textile, Graphic Art and Design on Snežniška street by students, Valerija Intihar, Katarina Kmet, Lara Žagar and pH15 (Ana Jazbec, Katja Grčman, Maruša Kranjc in Nika Batista) and their professors Assoc. Prof. Elena Fajt and Prof. Marija Jenko.

The picturesque impression of an abstract red blue visual installation has been accentuated by original lighting created by Borut Canjko. The rigidness and stability of hollow geometric forms – cubes put all over the exterior of the pavilion Mitnica, have been completed with a dynamic textile component. The cubes were interlaced and connected together with an enlarged textile ribbon into a giant spatial installation – a greeting to the New Year 2016.

Special thanks to Katerina Mirović and Borut Cajnko.
