Fundamentals of corporate finance

The goal of this course is to acquaint students with the basic theories and basic tools and practical solutions that are used in business finance. The purpose of this course is to prepare students for making investment and financial decisions as well as decisions relating to the management of working capital in the company. The role of corporate finance, the goal of the firm, stakeholders. Time value of money. Valuation of stocks and bonds. Risk and return, the CAPM. Capital budgeting: cash flow estimation, cost of capital, risk. Financial decisions: capital structure, leverage, pay-out policy. Long-term financing decisions: common stock, long-term debt, lease and preferred stock financing. Working capital: working capital policy and financing, cash cycle, cash and marketable securities, inventory, accounts receivable, accounts payable, short-term financing.
