Heat transfer in materials engineering

The course is a follow up of the topics on heat and mass transfer, heat engineering, metallurgical furnaces and metallurgical technologies by using physical and numerical modelling and simulations. Modelling: the role of process modelling in engineering practice, rules and guidelines. Physical modelling: Designing and systematic approach to performing experiments. Theoretical background of the experiment; Experimental procedure; Experiment preparation and instruments; Following the instructions. Examples: Heat conduction; Heat transfer; Heat radiation; Engineering applications; Numerical modelling. Modelling methods; Software. Program packages and their application. Study, preparing and analysing models. Correlating analytical, physical and numerical modelling of heat transfer in materials engineering, metallurgy and metallurgical technologies.
