Information and computer support for metallurgical processes

The goal of the course is to introduce students to the principles of developing algorithms through basic programming and the use of modern software, e.g. spreadsheets. Therefore, students are introduced to programming, which involves writing algorithms in a suitable programming language. Algorithm development techniques, e.g. sequential execution of computer instructions, conditional clauses and looping will be demonstrated on examples of some basic and crucial algorithms. Another part of the course involves computer processing of data: the use of structured types of data for building and use of databases and defining specific requirements needed for setting up and building databases. Practical work with databases will be demonstrated using the programming language SQL.
