Physical metallurgy

Goals: to deepen knowledge on the phenomena related to metallic materials. The most important ones are phase transformation in solid state and deformation hardening. Detailed knowledge of these phenomena is essential from a practical viewpoint as well as particularly in designing and control and working processes of various metallic materials. The fundamentals of this course are familiar to students of materials and metallurgy, and for them this course is a follow up, while it is basic for other students. Topics include selected chapters on plastic deformation, diffusion and diffusionless transformations in solid materials, with emphasis on metallic materials.
