Physico-chemical fundamentals of metal joining

This course provides knowledge of joining materials by welding and welding-related techniques and their significance for the industry. Emphasis is placed on the physical and chemical aspects as well as the metallurgical processes that occur during welding in filler material, molten drop, and the melt. By the end of the course, students will understand the importance of the composition of the filler material, be able to select appropriate consumables (shielding gases, fluxes, etc.), and understand the parameters that contribute to the quality of the joint after welding.
