Physico-chemical fundamentals of metal joining

The course provides knowledge on joining materials by welding and welding-related techniques and their significance for industry. The emphasis is given to understanding physical and chemical aspects and metallurgical processes that occur during welding on filler material and melt-off. Students understand the importance of the composition of the added material and are able to select appropriate auxiliary materials (assisting gas, welding flux, etc.) and understand the parameters that contribute to the quality of the joint after welding.
