Process engineering – forming and casting

Goals: designing, technological characterisation and manufacturing of materials – metallurgical product as final stage of the processing chain, i.e. from preparing materials, moulds and casting machines to processes of casting, controlled solidification and preparing materials for plastic working, hot and cold working, etc. to final thermomechanically controlled treatments in order to ensure target properties of a metallurgical product. A special feature of the course is focusing on process control, optimisation of tools and tribological conditions in cast and deformation zones and simulation techniques and monitoring of manufacturing technologies. It also includes the development of foundry materials and improvement of working properties of metals and alloys. The course aims to prepare students for profound studying and development of advanced technologies of casting and working materials, aided by physical and mathematical simulations.
