Refractory materials

Goals: understanding the properties of refractory materials and their applications in technological procedures and processing of metal and non-metal materials, e.g. iron, steel, ferroalloys, colour metals and alloys, cement and ceramics industry; Acquiring competences for appropriate selection of refractory materials for a particular production procedure with regard to their durability and stability at elevated or high temperatures; Acquiring competences for proper selection of refractory material with regard to insulation efficiency and energy use; Addressing issues of waste generation and its remediation to protect the environment; Using waste material as a secondary source of raw materials.
