Goals: acquiring basic knowledge necessary for operating a steelmaking process, learning about the role of steel in modern society. By understanding the basic physico-chemical, thermodynamic and heat processes in metallurgical aggregates, students acquire fundamental knowledge for solving practical problems. The course also upgrades and integrates the knowledge acquired through other core courses. The contents of the course aim at learning relevant process techniques and technological pathways to make high-quality steel and to contribute to economic development. A good quality product can be made only by mastering individual partial processes along the pathway, therefore emphasis will be given to each process step from the viewpoint of quality assurance and observation of ecological issues.
