Development of new aluminum alloys with high mechanical properties: Due to its properties, aluminum is used to make both everyday products and products for demanding industrial use. In the automotive industry, aluminum alloys are entering the field of traditional use of steel components, as they allow a good balance between weight and mechanical properties, as well as good corrosion resistance and affordability. Therefore, we are developing new innovative aluminum alloys with high mechanical properties, both in scientific research and in conjunction with the industry.

Influence of various alloying elements and heat treatments on the final properties of cast and wrought aluminum alloys: Aluminum alloys form complex multicomponent systems. The interaction between alloying elements leads to multiphase equilibrium states. Due to cooling and solidification conditions, a non-equilibrium state is often reached. Phase changes leading to a change in microstructure are of great technological and industrial importance. Hence, they are the subject of our numerous investigations.

Oxidation resistance of various metallic materials: Many different alloys (titanium, aluminum alloys, steels etc.) have been developed for use in spacecraft, where mechanical properties are most important. However, in industrial applications, oxidation resistance is the most important property. There is great interest in the use of titanium alloys, which are used at elevated temperatures due to their low density, high mechanical strength at high temperatures and specific strength in very demanding conditions. Nevertheless, there are several drawbacks that hinder their use, which is why we have been studying over the years in more detail the oxidation resistance of alloys for various applications.
