Textile design 3b

A chosen theme, which could lead to thesis work, summarises all knowledge gained in (digital) design, technology, art theory, economics, marketing and social science courses, and takes into account a market’s offers and the potential for practical use. The course features actual and applicable themes in the field of textile design, including joint projects with other courses linked to modern textile technology. As the role of textile designer in the local textile industry increasingly diminishes, innovative thesis topics must help open new possibilities in textile design, not only for the purpose of fashion production, but also for the furniture industry and interior design, and to encourage collaboration in architectural projects and the development of special-purpose textiles for the medical, food and construction sectors. Artistic textiles for different artistic practices, theatre and film also play an important role in the course’s curriculum. Student should be capable of designing and producing their own textile pieces in a unique or small series and manage a small textile company. Thesis work could also focus on the design of collections of textile patterns strictly in digital form for presentations at fairs, in printed publications and on the internet.

This course counts as a Foundation elective design course.
