Within a framework of festival Lighting Guerrilla 24 : Transformation
THE FACULTY OF NATURAL SCIENCES AND ENGINEERING, UNIVERSITY OF LJUBLJANA (NTF, UL) – Department of Textiles and Fashion Design presents a poject:
Penetration of Light I.
Light installation
Soteska // until 22 June
OPENING: Friday, 24 May, 9:30 p.m.
Mentors: professor Marija Jenko (NTF, UL) & Janez Grošelj
Under the baton of students of The Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, the intimate space of a small square in the city centre is transformed into a monumental lighting constellation consisting of recycled consumer goods. The veil of transparent structures connects several surrounding buildings into a unified design. With the help of light that seeps through different layers of the placement, the playful backdrop transforms the urban atmosphere into a simulacrum of a natural habitat. Derivation of the project – entitled The Penetration of Light II. – is located in the park next to the Roman Wall in Mirje.
PARTICIPANTS: Eli Arapova, Julia Arnšek, Taša Blatnik, Neža Kavčič, Ida Križnič, Filip Minoski, Zarja Pertoci, Julija Potočnik, Alja Rojko, Taja Sejdić, Eva Strnad, Zala Šoškič and Tara Urbanč.

Light installation
Park by the Roman Wall, Mirje // until 22 June
OPENING: Friday, 24 May, 9:30 p.m.

The installation Penetration of Light II, presents a derivation of the project that the same group of students conceptualised in Soteska; the inspiration for the present placement stems from the very design of the park by the Roman Wall, where the participants highlighted the already existing characteristics of the space with light elements and thus turned the rather dark park into a kind of amphitheatre of light. Whereas in Soteska we deal predominantly with non-textile materials, here there is a greater emphasis on the textile itself; by processing old textiles and other objects, and with the added element of light, they expose a new perspective on familiar materials and objects, in this way transforming the given micro-atmosphere.
