Course progression requirements

Progression from one year to another and student obligations
Progression requirements have been set out by the Statute of the University of Ljubljana (Art. 151).

For progression to the subsequent year of studies, students must complete all study obligations and obtain 60 ECTS.

The Study Commission of the Faculty may exceptionally approve progression to a higher year if the student has obtained minimum 45 ECTS in the previous year and can provide a sufficient cause (e.g. maternity, longer sick leave, exceptional family or social circumstances, etc.). Sufficient causes are defined by the Statute of the University of Ljubljana.

The Department has a longstanding system of mentorship. This system will be upgraded by tutorship, meaning that students will have mentors for each particular year of study. Also, students will be assisted by a peer tutor (a student from a higher year). Mentors and tutors in the programme will provide counselling to students regarding questions related to selecting optional courses.

Students who achieve exceptional standards during studies may progress to the subsequent year more quickly, pending a decision of the Senate of the FNSE, UL, and upon a written request by the candidate and supporting opinion of the Study Commission of the NTF, UL.
