T-P-16 (textile design) Theory of costume design

Specific costume design methods for different types of performances – opera, theatre, ballet, dance, television, video and film. Contemporary approaches to costume design and performance concepts. Relation of costume design and drama/directing/set concepts from the 1980s onward. Functions, aims, tasks and the role of costume design. Relationships: text–costume, directing–costume, actor/singer/dancer–costume. The development of theatre, stage sets and costumes in the second part of the 20th century. The duties of the costume designer, analysis of the play and character and use of design concepts in relation to a specific media type of performance interpretation. Contemporary costume design approaches of world-renowned costumiers.
