T-S-7 (general) Design of experiments and multivariate analysis methods in graphic arts and textiles

Introduction: characteristics of research work in natural sciences and engineering, overview of available statistical software (Excel, StatGraphics, SPSS, Matlab, Python, R) and web resources.
Design and analysis of experiments: factors, treatments, responses, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), comparison of means (multiple comparisons tests, planned comparisons – contrasts), randomised block designs, multi-way ANOVA, main effects, interactions, factorial designs (complete, fractional, saturated), response surfaces, optimisation methods.
Multivariate analysis: principal components analysis (PCA), clustering methods, multivariate regression (MLR, PLS), overview of other techniques (factor analysis, discriminant analysis, correspondence analysis, multidimensional scaling)
