I am contacting you regarding a study on European research data commissioned by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (please find the support letter attached). The study activities are carried out by Visionary Analytics, in partnership with EFIS, DCC, and DANS, and cover the topics of research data production, consumption, and depositing practices in the EU, Horizon 2020 Associated Countries, and the UK. The study aims to provide a detailed characterisation of the research data ecosystem in these countries. It will facilitate the development of more targeted policies and support actions to mainstream findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable (FAIR) and open data practices by the researcher community. Even though the survey focuses on practices related to research data, we are also interested in responses from researchers even if they do not produce or work less with research data.
One of the key parts of the study is a survey of researchers on their research data production, consumption, and depositing practices. Thus, we would like to ask if you would agree to help us facilitate the process by distributing the survey invitations to researchers at your institution. This would help the study reach a wider researcher community and represent your country better in the data.
