Introduction

Fellow Presentation
Speaker Théo Aiolfi (CY Cergy Paris University)
Project Title Performers of the Climate Crisis
Abstract Through a comparative analysis of various Western countries – including France, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Belgium and the United States – this project at the crossroads of politics and performance studies engages with the political and theatrical repertoire of political actors. It does so through the lens of populism, understood as a political style, to consider the innovative way these actors combine left-wing radicalism, environmental politics, and feminism to articulate a global people united against an unresponsive elite.

Speaker Sanchari Deb (University of Warwick)
Project Title Exploring the capacity of Vehicle to Grid in University of Nottingham Campus
Abstract Global warming, pollution, increasing energy demand has compelled electrification of the transport sector. Electric vehicles (EVs) are not only an attractive cleaner mode of transport, but they also possess capacity of offering flexible storage alternative based on bidirectional vehicle-to-grid (V2G) scheme. V2G scheme permits EV batteries to store energy and discharge it back to the power grid during peak load period. However, the feasibility and economic viability of V2G scheme is still a matter of concern. This presentation will delve into the feasibility of V2G scheme by analyzing the real time charging data of a V2G demonstrator at University of Nottingham campus.

Fellow Presentation
Speaker Valérie Hayaert (University of Warwick)
Project Title The Calumny of Apelles: The Spatial Scales of a Judicial Allegory
Abstract I will first present one example of my research on early modern allegories of Justice, so as to introduce you to the art historical and judicial component of

my work. The principal aim of my project is to investigate theories of interpretation prevalent in legal visual sources so as to build a legally conscious history of images.

To follow up on what Emrah presented last week about Utopia and Dystopia, I will explore allegorical depictions of the defamation of the Greek painter Apelles to show how they act in the courtroom space as visual heterotopias. Allegories of Justice are to be thought as images in action, where shared judicial values help build a common polity, which may affects various actors of the judicial process (judges, litigants, witnesses, and the public).

To conclude, I will explain where I will do my secondment and how I hope to contribute with an open access database of images of Justice, to be hosted the Institut des Etudes et de la Recherche sur le Droit et la Justice, IERDJ, Paris.
