Project Title

Putting handles on enzymes? 😮 Development of covalent tags for labelling Bruton’s Tyrosine Kinase in living cells

Project Description

Bruton’s Tyrosine Kinase (BTK) is an emerging drug target implicated in leukemia, lymphoma and other malignancies. The aim of our project is to develop a method for placing a molecular “handle” on BTK, which would allow us to tag the enzyme while it remains functional within living cells. Our strategy can be theoretically applicable in many kinases, a large enzyme family involved in numerous cell functions, therefore the labelling of BTK can serve as an initial showcase.
